Eight of Swords

Minor · Swords

Description

A woman stands blindfolded, ropes loose around her, swords stuck in the ground around her in a loose half-circle. Look closely. The swords don't actually trap her. The blindfold does. The Eight of Swords is the cage that only exists from the inside.

Upright Meanings

You feel stuck. The walls feel real. Look closer. The thoughts holding you in place are yours, not the situation's. The Eight of Swords says you have more room than you can see. Take off the blindfold. The story you're telling about the trap is most of the trap.

Reversed Meanings

The blindfold is coming off. You're seeing the loop you were caught in, the script you were running. Sometimes this lands as relief. The cage was paper. Sometimes the inner critic is loud and the freedom isn't here yet. Either way, you're closer to out than you were.

Numerology

8 (The Action: movement, outer work, swiftness)
